Cosmetology
Cosmetology provides students with essential knowledge and skills necessary for pursuing a career or post-secondary education in cosmetology. This program prepares students for the workforce, offering a curriculum that provides classroom and hands-on-experience and credentialing opportunities that are business and industry certified. This course is for interested students who are pursuing careers in the hairstyling, skin care and the nail care industry. In addition students become knowledgeable in procedures in infection control to maintain public health and safety in this career.
Additional preparation in salon business and entrepreneurship provide students with the fundamentals in the business and industry aspect of this career cosmetology
Cosmetology provides one semester of college credit through an articulation agreement with any two year college in the State of Alabama. Requirements to receive this credit are to complete three semesters of cosmetology while maintaining an 80/B average in all three courses.
The Career Tech Student Organization for this cluster is SkillsUSA whose activities help students develop their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success.

ENGLISH
10th grade English is a semester-long literature survey class. The class covers literary terminology, vocabulary building, test taking strategies, and several literary genres. Over the course of the year, we will utilize literature to focus on these central questions: Is there a difference between reality and truth? Can progress be made without conflict? What kind of knowledge changes our lives? Does all communication serve a purpose? To what extent does experience determine what we perceive? Can anyone be a hero? The course is written to Common Core standards and will challenge students to critically think about literature. Students will involve themselves in self-assessment as well as in teacher guided practice and assessment throughout the class. The literature of the class includes selections from Nobel Prize in Literature and Pulitzer Prize winners. Health Science
The Health Science Cluster provides students with essential knowledge and skills necessary for pursuing a career or post-secondary education in health care. Interested students can choose from a variety of entry level professional pathways.
The Health Science curriculum provides flexibility in meeting the needs of ALL students by providing a variety of instructional strategies to include projects, lab simulations, community service opportunities and work-based learning experiences.
All pathways in the Health Science Cluster may lead to a nationally recognized certification or credential.
The Health Science classroom provides a safe and appropriate setting for student exploration and assessment. Students are able to participate in both classroom and laboratory skills necessary for a career path in Health Science. Students who choose to enter the Health Science field set specific academic goals for meeting the expectations of business and industry.

JAG, Jobs for Alabama's Graduates provides elective classes taught by educational specialists. Students enrolled in JAG acquire vital job skills, get hands-on experience, and receive a year of post-grad support, nurturing students through as they transition into career and postsecondary

The Manufacturing cluster prepares students for careers in planning, managing, and performing the processing of materials into intermediate or final products. Students develop the knowledge and skills needed for careers in industrial maintenance, manufacturing and electronics. The classroom and laboratory for this cluster provide a safe and appropriate setting for active, structured and stimulating student learning and assessment.
The Career Tech Student Organization for this cluster is SkillsUSA whose activities help students develop their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success. The Manufacturing & Industrial Maintenance program is designed for students interested in manufacturing fields. Students will gain valuable knowledge and develop marketable skills that will greatly benefit them in a future manufacturing profession. Opportunities for this program involve business and industry tours and Dual Enrollment through Wallace Community College Selma.

Spanish
A Spanish class in Alabama would typically introduce students to the fundamentals of the Spanish language focusing on developing basic communications skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing, also while also providing insights into the cultures of Spanish speaking countries with an emphasis on practical everyday vocabulary and grammar structures offering multimedia tools to enhance learning.

The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Cluster includes a variety of opportunities.
Elective PLTW and SREB courses provide students with the opportunity to gain experience with general engineering design and application projects as they acquire discipline-specific knowledge that allows them to make informed career choices.
Students choosing to enter this cluster must realize the relationship of mathematics and science to the engineering and technology disciplines and expect to regularly apply mathematical and scientific principles throughout the courses in this cluster. Interested students will engage in challenging curriculum involving practical applications of engineering principles and technological literacy.
Students in the S.T.E.M Cluster affiliate with Technology Student Association (TSA) as the Career Technical Student Organization. The Technology Student Association is a national student organization created to develop skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics as well as business education.
TSA aims to develop leadership, academic, and business management skills in the workplace among students and leaders within the community. TSA provides additional opportunities that enhance classroom instruction and leadership skills.

Theatre
THEATRE
Theatre I: This course introduces students to the theatrical arts. We emphasize creativity, collaboration, and perseverance. Areas covered in depth include: theatre vocabulary, roles in the theatre, movement, acting, the reading of plays, theatre design and tech, and viewing theatre performances. Students will be creating projects throughout the semester in groups just as they would encounter in the professional theatre world. Previously, the class has included partnerships with renowned Theatre Tuscaloosa and Shelton State Community College.

Theatre II: This acting course builds on Theatre I by providing students with opportunities for learning the basic techniques and skills of dramatic and comic performance. Theatre games and exercises, monologues, duet scenes and reader’s theatre are taught. Students will be introduced to theatre history from the Ancient Greeks to present. Previously, the class has included partnerships with renowned community theatre companies, such as Theatre Tuscaloosa and Shelton State Community College. Performances for school and community audiences MAY occur during the semester.

Welding
The Welding course teaches students the skills and knowledge to work as welders in various industries. These courses often include:
- Welding techniques: Students learn how to use different types of welding equipment, such as arc welders, gas welders, and plasma cutters. They also learn how to perform basic and advanced welding techniques on various materials.
- Safety procedures: Students learn how to follow safety procedures and inspect the quality of their welds.
- Metal properties: Students learn about the mechanical and thermal properties of metals.
- Employability skills: Students learn employability skills such as communication and following directions.
- Certifications: Students may earn certifications, such as the NCCER, National Center for Construction Education and Research

Career Coach
A Career Coach works directly with students to help them explore career options, identify their strengths and interests, set realistic career goals, and develop the
necessary skills and knowledge to pursue their chosen path, including assisting with resume writing, interview preparation, and college applications; essentially
guiding them through the process of planning for their future career while still in high school.
Victoria Smith, Hale County Career Coach works closely to assist students from both Greensboro High and Hale County High schools on their career goals. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Alabama. She has over 15 years of experience working with students and parents and love helping others achieve their goals.
During her off time, Victoria is a cheer coach and loves spending time with her family.

Ms. Anita Elliott is the Administrative Assistant at the Hale County College and Career Academy.
A school administrative assistant is responsible for providing comprehensive administrative support to the school principal and staff by managing office operations, maintaining students records, handling communication with parents and visitors, scheduling appointments and ensuring smooth day -to -day functions within the school all while upholding confidentiality and adhering to school policies.
